Hip-hop artist Napoleon Maddox didn’t learn about conjoined Millie and Christine McKoy – who were born into slavery in the town of Whiteville, NC in 1851 – in school. But he did learn about the twins, who were his great grand aunts, through family stories.

He has been sharing about their powerful story in a show called Twice the First Time. Maddox is performing at the Jubilee By Day and Jubilee By Night events in Cincinnati (Oct. 12, 2019).
